All the video’s he does of me are only the best bits when the camera was rolling but in this video he wanted to show how much goes into teaching a dog to fetch and how to keep your puppies attention off leash. Also beware of distractions and give your puppy a reason to want to come back. Make it your puppies decision …chew the decision… to do it for themselves and you will have a dog that does the right thing.

So be aware to make sure all the toileting is done …chew the poo… before you expect puppy to listen and do what you want. He’s gone out with me and wondered why I’m not listening and trying to do my own thing when all I wanted to do was poo!
Do lot’s of “look at me” and treat. What you are trying to do is have a walk where your dog doesn’t zone out to you not being there, or only a leash that they have to pull. In their mind, you are not on the other end so make them aware and co operate the leash together. Puppies love being told what to do …chew the lead…
Practise “come to me” all the time and start from very short distances and learn to trust your dog. By giving your puppy trust slowly they will learn to trust themselves.
