Be Consistent with your Puppy

You’ve probably heard this before but it’s so true and he has fallen prey to my puppy Jedi eyes. Let me start at the beginning …chew chew chew the string… as I’d said in my first ever blog I had arrived here with a good understanding about the old puppy nipping thing. I’m good with that cos my mum taught me and so I didn’t have a problem with it until I chanced a little nip on his hand yesterday or the night before, I mean it’s nothing to write home about and my mum doesn’t need to know but I thought I would lay a tooth on his skin, you know just to see if there was any change on that rule..

And this is where my puppy Jedi mind trick came to it’s fruition cos I stopped and looked up at him and he foolishly thought my puppy eyes were saying “sorry, I didn’t mean to do that!” and so he became a little bit tolerant with my “playful accidents” …chew his hand…chew…chew and so all of yesterday every now and then I’d have one of my little accidents whilst fantasising about getting stuck right in and see what these puppy teeth can do and then give him that look …look into my big brown puppy eyes…

Now I’m not responsible for how he takes it, as far as I’m concerned he should be able to understand what I’m saying …chicken chicken yummy chicken… and I think he does because he woke up and we seem to have taken a step back to zero tolerance cos when I try now he gets up and makes a cup of tea.

So my secret is out, what I really was saying after I bit him was “I see we’re still playing the game so is it OK to nibble you again?” and he seemed to be saying yes because the game didn’t end like it usually does. We have a wee time out and it’s all forgotten so more fool him he should have been consistent and not confused me by saying “Yes I will tolerate little nips”

So we were back at the starting point, which by this evening I’m cool about, but this morning when he ignored me I took a steaming warm revenge in the corner to let him know I’m not happy. So he took me out on the balcony and we played fetch with a real ball and all my unhappiness vanished in a puff of joy.

Oh and by the way, two of his puppy grandchildren came round today and after a bit of clicker time to let me know to stay lying down and not get excited. Did they? the little humans? no they went berserk with glee and trepidation and I played nicely and lay down for them to stroke me. …clicker the children…

I was born on the 27th of July 2015 at ten to ten in the evening. I have four brothers and four sisters, my mum's name is Piper and my gran's name was Cara. I now live with Derek in Edinburgh, Scotland and we are Thunder Buddies for life. I can sit, lie down, stay, ignore the food, look at me, touch a hand and my favourite is I can play fetch. I love chicken and will do anything for it. I love to chew string
