Welcome to my Blog

Hi there, my name is Ted, Ted Chewstring, and I’ve just arrived at my new home and I got to tell you it’s been a funny old few days. …Grrrrr I want to chew string… Oh and by the way you’ll have to forgive me cos I keep getting distracted. It’s like when I’m trying to guess what he wants for my treats, I kinda get distracted by the smells and sounds of my world, which at the moment is a kitchen, …what! what! what is that smell?… Where was I? Oh yes, I get distrac… chew the string…

As you can see I’m a handsome chap or at least that’s what everyone says but I only see myself from the inside and when I arrived here I was looking pretty good. My mum had taken really good care of me and had taught me some of the basics like not biting cos it’s pretty sore.

Well, when I got here the first thing I did was to try the old puppy chewing charm, on anything I wanted. To be fair, it usually works cos humans go all gooey when we do it and it’s like being let out of school to run riot. They love it cos we’re so small and our bites are so cute lol some owners don’t even mind if we draw blood and then say in that cooey gooey voice “Awwwwww he’s so cute”. We’re dogs and we love to chew. But I say, let’s start as we mean to go on and so I did, well I tried.

It turns out my owner must have had words with my mum or he’s super smart cos when I arrived he showed me what I can chew, and what I can’t and cos he seems to own everything, and it pretty much means everything. It was simple to put it together and when I want to chew I got my toys and ropes which I love I want to chew the bottom of the cupboard door……..where’s my rope? He really like it when I chew my rope, and to prove it he does one of those crazy human sounds like a high pitched happy fanatic? I like it, so I chew my rope and it is the funniest thing watching him.

Clicker Training

The best thing that’s happened since I got to this new place is that there is a clicking sound that always goes off when I do good stuff and I get a treat. In fact, I’ve sussed out this crazy human I’m living with, and don’t tell him I know, but if I keep doing the things that make the clicker go off I get a treat every time. There are so many different tasting goodies that I can’t wait to taste and I’ve even found myself just automatically doing the things he likes lol it’s becoming automatic when there are no treats. Anyways I can do some smart things like sit, lie down and stay ….where’s that squeaky toy?

He even put a lead on my collar and I sat there looking up at him “I haven’t a clue what’s next!” was the look I was going for. It’s another one of those faces that humans think are so cute and I wish they’d get it into their thick craniums that the look means “Please explain, I don’t know what you want me to do The moment I moved my paw forward the clicker went off and I got a treat lol silly human. So I did it again and before you know it I was walking up and down the hall having a great time. I’ve no idea what that was all about but when he opened the window the smells made me hope it was something to do with that. I heard him say to someone that I can’t go smell the smells until I’ve been to something he called a Vet. I’m looking forward to that and I’ll let you all know how it goes.

….what are those smells?
